ADW | Pricks & Mortar @ South Studios
‘Pricks & Mortar’, a new exhibition by Irish street artist ADW, comes to South Studios.
After the success of last year’s solo show ‘Stensual’, the infamous street/stencil artist ADW brings his new show to South Studios this Friday…
You may not recognise the name but odds are you’d recognise one of his iconic images – his ‘Bertie Tricolour’ in particular. ADW is Ireland’s most prolific stencil artist, creating street art with strong political and humorous undertones – using the city as his canvas. He began making street art full-time after being let go from his job as a graphic designer back in 2008, so it’s not surprising that his own experiences of the economic downturn have influenced the themes in his work.
As the man himself says “What better way to poke the establishment in the eye than to send up the powerful with a piece of street art, combining beauty with belligerence?”. Indeed.
Flamenco 2 by ADW.
His new show, ‘Pricks & Mortar’, is more than just an exhibition, it also features 3D pieces and installations which sum up the post Celtic Tiger hangover.
Works from ‘Stensual’, ADW’s first solo show.
The exhibition is only showing for three days so make sure to get down to South Studios this weekend.
