Fashion’s Candy Crush | Charlotte Free

LA Model Charlotte Free named the face of both Maybelline New York and Forever 21 this month.

Fashion’s latest candy coloured crush, LA Model, Charlotte Free, she of the fab ombré pink hair, has hit the headlines this month by becoming the face of two heavy-weight brands Maybelline New York and Forever 21.

The 19 year old model from LA was signed by IMG just over a year ago after being discovered playing video games in an arcade. Within months she was walking for Jeremy Scott, Topshop Unique, Marchesa, Vivienne Westwood, and Charlotte Ronson. She has featured in campaigns for Uniqlo, Edun and 7 for All Mankind and appeared in photo shoots for magazines Interview, i-D, Dazed & Confused and British and American Vogue.

It’s her quirky street style and of course trademark dip dyed candy pink hair, that has made Charlotte a fashion phenomenon, with snaps of her post-show looks blanketing international street style blogs.

Charlotte is part of global fashion brand Forever 21′s spring/summer Campaign, “Love Is Free”. Shot by famed photographer, Kenneth Cappello, the campaign captures the fun, and whimsical spirit of Charlotte in a series of striking poses and fashion-forward looks. Charlotte, whose image and style can be seen in store starting next month, is dressed in the brand’s neon statement pieces, floral pantsuits, Americana-inspired ensembles, and must-have metallic accessories, as featured in the campaign’s look book. Neon tank tops (starting at €5.80) and dresses (starting at €15.80) inspired by the campaign are currently available in the Dublin store, with more coming online and in store next month.

For Maybelline New York, the edgy model is perfect for the iconic beauty brand and the ‘#TopChicret’ news that Charlotte was to be the new face of the brand was launched this week via the following YouTube video featuring P’Trique of “Shit Fashion Girls Say” fame. In the vid, P’trique just can’t keep Charlotte’s secret to himself, spilling it (in some great cameos) to New York fashion royalty like Jill Zarin, Betsey Johnson, Derek Blasberg, Phil Oh, John Januzzi and Chrissie Miller.

Charlotte will make her debut for Maybelline New York in the TV campaign for the new lipsticks Color Sensational The Popsticks this summer.
