LINK Culturefest 2012 | May 25-27th
LINK Culturefest, 25-27th May, Smithfield.
LINK Culturefest is a weekend-long festival, celebrating the culture, art and people of the hipster-haven that is Smithfield. Here’s what’s occurring…
Between May 25th and 27th, LINK Culturefest will host a series of events for the public, including exhibitions, live concerts, screenings and studio tours. The area between Stoneybatter and Capel St. contains more than it’s fair share of galleries and studio spaces, from The Joinery to Little Green Street, and this weekend will see over 100 participating artists exhibiting in up to 20 different buildings around these areas. For a full programme of exhibitions, see here.
Highlights include Open Your Eyes, an exhibition by the students of Photography at DIT in Little Green Street Gallery; the Linked Exhibition, featuring 20 invited artists from Marseille and Lisbon as well as 60 Dublin-based artists in Block B; New Work from Sarah O’Neill at The Complex 3 and Outside the System of Difference, an exhibition by Marie Farrington and Sarah Doherty in The Joinery.
On the music side of things, there’s a performance by Mersk Collective, the European Sensoria Band in The Joinery, a live concert from Afro-Peruvian band Phisqa in St. Michan’s Church and (love this) the Trinity Orchestra will be performing the songs Radiohead and OKO, also in St. Michan’s.
After-parties on each night will be in U Bar (13 High Street), with a host of djs and free entry. For the full programme and more info on screenings, readings and studio tours, see here.
LINK Culturefest is a Block T initiative – pick up your map and printed programme from the information point, based at Block T, Smithfield Square.
