River Island SS12 Preview

Prints, prints, prints! They’re bigger, bolder and more daring than ever, it’s River Island’s Spring Summer 2012 Collection.

It may not seem like it when you look outside but pretty soon the shops will be full of all the pretty things for Spring Summer 2012. First up we take a look at River Island and with print as the key feature, this season it’s going to be a loud, bright summer by the looks of things.

The collection encapsulates everything needed for a Spring/Summer wardrobe. The trends take inspiration from a nostalgic trip through fashion eras, where classics are reinvented with a contemporary style.

MIAMI
This trend is strongly influenced by Latin America with over the top prints and strong 50s feminine silhouettes. Miami’s hot, sultry and sexy spirit is set to sizzle for the upcoming season.

SPRING BREAK
Spring Break is a more casual partner to the Miami trend. This collection features pretty pastels, floral and prints. Embellished denim shorts, logo tees and sweats, and casual espadrilles enhance the effortlessness of this preppy trend with an edge.

PURIST
Clean silhouettes, casual tailoring and monochrome with pastels allows for simplicity and style with Purist. This trend gives androgynous power dressing a twist, with platform gladiators suggesting a taste of structured edge to the season ahead. Inspiration is taken from 90s sportswear with the use of neoprene fabrics and digital prints.

SUGAR
This is the most feminine trend in the collection with pastels, chiffons, floaty and sheer fabrics as well as appliqués .Sugar has a girly vibe and pastels are shown from baby pink through to soft yellow. Intricate layers and texture give volume and interest to simple pieces.

PRAIRIE
Prairie is a western inspired trend consisting of a muted blue and neutral colour palette. This trend harks back to hippy dressing by capturing its carefree spirit and essence. Fringed jackets and sprayed denim feature, with crocheted and Broderie Anglaise pieces adding some texture.
