Sodashi Treatments | Four Seasons Spa
We review the Sodashi Chakra Balancing Treatment at Four Seasons Spa, Dublin as part of Four Seasons Global Spa Week.
I’m just back from a heavenly morning at the Spa at Four Seasons in Dublin. As part of their Global Spa Week – a Four Seasons Global event where their spa therapists or ‘Curators of Calm’ are hosting online twitter chats from Nov 14 – 18 (follow/search #FSspa on twitter) - I was invited to come along for a treatment, Sodashi Chakra Balancing Treatment to be exact and to experience all the Four Seasons Spa has to offer. As a result, this feature comes to you from a floaty bliss cloud of sereneness!
The idea of the Chakra Balancing Treatment is a holistic approach to balancing your body’s seven chakras and is a combination of massage, blended essential oils and healing crystals.
On arrival at the Four Seasons Spa I was greeted by the exceptionally friendly staff, given my fluffy robe and slippers and with a little time before my treatment, spent some time chilling out in the relaxation room, sipping cucumber water and reading Vogue. At 9.30 on a Tuesday morning I’ll admit, it felt very decadent. There’s a steam room and sauna available here also should you feel the desire. It’s a really relaxing atmosphere and staff are always on hand and incredibly nice, if there’s anything you need.
Time for the treatment, at first the therapist does a test on my seven chakras to determine which areas need work and then we begin. The chakra treatment is fundamentally a full body massage, using specific Sodashi essential oils, depending on which chakras are determined to be blocked from the initial assessment.
Where this treatment differs is the part that involves the healing crystals. I’ve had plenty of massages before, mainly hot stone and while I’ll feel great and be relaxed, I don’t think I’ve ever gone into such a deep meditative state before. After each side of the body is massaged the therapist works with the crystals placing them on each of your seven chakras and lightly massaging, I’m not sure I can remember the exact detail to be honest as at that point I just remember floating away, being vaguely aware of my breathing and feeling totally blissed out.
It’s a very measured feeling as, after the first time, you turn over and are completely present again for the second part of the massage but once the crystals are used again you just drift away. It’s a fantastic feeling and as someone who’s never had the patience to meditate or attempt that kind of thing I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Apparently my No. 4 ‘Heart’ and No.7 ‘Third Eye’ chakra had been blocked. I will leave what this means open to interpretation!
After the treatment I returned to the relaxation room and while I felt I could’ve curled up on the chair and slept for a year, that initial feeling was quickly replaced and I felt wide awake, calm and energised. I went and sat by the pool and had a delicious snack of bagel, cream cheese and smoked salmon and then it was time to leave. I could’ve stayed there all day though.
I can’t recommend this treatment enough, if you’re looking for the perfect Christmas present for a Mum or Girlfriend, something really special, this is exactly what you need. The whole Four Seasons Spa experience will make them feel like a VIP and the treatment itself is worth every penny. They will love you for it.
Sodashi Chakra Balancing Treatment is 90 minutes – €190.
