Spirit of Folk Festival | 23-25 Sep
Spirit of Folk Festival – a two-day, family-friendly festival celebrating all things folk.
Suffering from a bit of post-festival blues this week? We know we are. Next up on the circuit is the Spirit of Folk Festival running from 23-25 September in the grounds of Dunderry Park, Co. Meath.
Spirit of Folk is a celebration of all things folk-y – folk arts, folk crafts, folk games, folk lore, folk philosophy – you get the picture. And obviously, the best and brightest from the folk music scene. There’ll be a whole range of sounds, from chilled out folk singer-songwriters, to upbeat, expansive folk-rock, to some traditional seisún tunes. See here for the full music lineup.
The 2-day camping festival will host a range of talks, workshops and storytellers in specially constructed domes as well as a games area, falconry displays, archery, and a whole host of market stalls. Kids will love it.
Spirit of Folk also includes a ‘Living History’ area where you can see ancient crafts and skills brought to life by experimental archaeologists, and you’ll get the chance to witness some of their weaponsmith’s products in action at their battle re-enactments.
The whole thing has been organised as a new fundraising initiative for the Oaktree Charitable Trust, whose mission is to provide a safe and healing environment for communities to grow and nurture their members as well as to encourage sustainable health and fitness of body and mind.
