Fifteen-year-old UK singer/songwriter, Birdy, blows us away with her sophisticated haunting sound.

We may be a little late to the party on this one but having only recently heard UK singer/songwriter Jasmine van den Bogaerde aka Birdy, cover the XX’s ‘Shelter’ on a recent episode of The Vampire Diaries (yes, we watch it), we were blown away by her haunting unique sound. We had to find out more.

In her short time in the public sphere, Birdy has already made some big fans with Fearne Cotton making her version of Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love’ her ‘Record of the Week’ and the single spending 7 weeks on Radio 1’s A list. The single sold over 150,000 copies and also featured in the top 10 alternative chart on iTunes in the US, France and Germany.

Expected in November, Birdy is currently in the studio working on her debut album ‘Birdy by Birdy’ with James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Last Shadow Puppets and Klaxons) and Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys). After working with Birdy on the ‘Skinny Love’ video, Sophie Muller (Kings of Leon, Radiohead and The Cure) was at the helm for the video for ‘Shelter’ to create another dark and beautiful creation.
